Erica J. De Sequeira is a young international multi-disciplinary martial arts athlete from Goa, India, whose journey is defined by discipline, dedication, versatility, and an unwavering pursuit of excellence.
Competing across Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, Kickboxing, Muay Thai, Tong-Il Moo-Do, and Mixed Martial Arts, Erica has established an impressive competitive record, with 30+ podium finishes across national and international championships. Training under Head Coach Raunak Singh (@coachronnyy), she has proudly represented Goa and India on competitive platforms in India, Kenya, and the UAE.
Her journey has been marked by significant achievements across multiple combat sports disciplines. She has earned multiple Gold medals at the Mombasa Open International Martial Arts Championships in Kenya, competed at the World Professional Jiu-Jitsu Championship in Abu Dhabi, achieved podium finishes at the ADCC No-Gi Jiu-Jitsu Championships and the AJP India National Jiu-Jitsu Championship, and represented herself on the Khelo India platform.
In 2026, Erica reached another important milestone in her career, winning Gold at the 9th MMA India National Championship in Indore, earning selection for the World Cup in Georgia. She also became the WAKO Goa State K1 Champion 2026 and secured Gold at the WMC India Ranking Series.
Her international achievements include an impressive medal-winning performance at the 12th Mombasa Open TIMD International Martial Arts Championship 2025, alongside earlier success at the 10th and 11th editions of the championship. Her journey in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu has also taken her to prestigious competitions in Abu Dhabi and India, where she has continued to compete among strong national and international fields.
Beyond competition, Erica approaches martial arts as both a sport and a discipline of life. She is committed to studying the philosophy and principles of various martial arts, exploring the deeper values behind combat disciplines and their role in developing character, discipline, focus, resilience, adaptability, and mental strength. For Erica, martial arts is not simply about winning medals—it is a continuous journey of learning, self-development, and personal growth.
She has also participated in self-defence workshops and training programmes for the Goa Police, including programmes for women police personnel and the Pink Force, contributing to greater awareness of personal safety and self-defence.
Her achievements have been recognised through numerous honours and felicitations. Among them are the Orchid Awards 2025 in the Women Achievers in Goa – Sports category, the Goa's Jewel 2024 award, Best Athlete of the Year recognitions from Insanity Jiu-Jitsu Academy Goa and the Tong-Il Moo-Do Association Goa, as well as other awards and appreciation from prominent sporting and public figures in Goa.
Alongside her sporting career, Erica continues her education at Our Lady of Rosary Higher Secondary School, Dona Paula. She is also training in Bharatanatyam classical dance, reflecting her interests and discipline beyond combat sports.
Erica's mission extends beyond personal achievement. She aims to promote the transformative power of martial arts, encourage young people to develop confidence and resilience, create greater awareness of self-defence, and inspire the next generation to believe in their own potential.

Erica J De Sequeira is the only multi-discipline International Combat Champion Goa has ever produced. At just 16, she holds 30+ podium medals across BJJ, Kickboxing, MMA, Muay Thai and Tong-il Moo-Do.
Her journey is marked by championship performances, including multiple Gold medals at the Mombasa Open International Martial Arts Championships in Kenya, the WAKO Goa State K1 Championship 2026, and Gold at the 9th MMA India National Championship 2026, earning selection for the World Cup in Georgia. She has also competed at the World Professional Jiu-Jitsu Championship in Abu Dhabi and achieved podium finishes at prestigious ADCC, AJP, and Khelo India competitions.
Beyond competition, Erica is committed to understanding martial arts more deeply, studying the philosophies and principles of various martial arts disciplines alongside her practical training. Asvin Chandru, IAS. She was also honoured with the title "Goa's Jewel 2024" by TNS Jewellers.
